CARTERVILLE -
Jeannette Vaughn, 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at her
home in Carterville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, in
Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev.
Donnie Colson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery
in Carterville. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Jeannette's
family.
Jeannette was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Johnston City to
Tom and Damie (Hawkins) Russell. She married George L. Vaughn on
March 6, 1947, in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death Oct. 1,
1987.
She is survived by her son, James Vaughn of
Carterville; six grandchildren, Randy, Rhonda, Kim, Melanie,
Roxanne and Rikki; 10 great-grandchildren; six
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband; two
sons, Russell and Bobby; grandson, Rusty; four brothers, Bud,
Sonny, Peck and Gabe; and five sisters, Daphine, Wilda, Barb,
Muriel and Vestel.
She worked for Carterville School District as a bus
driver and in the kitchen as a cook's aid. Jeannette also worked
alongside her husband running the concession stand at James
Street Park. In addition, she worked as a caregiver for over 15
years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Jeannette loved music and golfing at Crab Orchard Golf Course
with her husband.
She was an avid Carterville sports fan who supported
the Lions by attending all their games. In her declining health,
when she couldn't make it to the games she would listen to them
on the radio.
